Superoxide dismutase (SOD) is a type of metalloenzyme, which is widely present in all organisms (such as animals, plants, microorganisms, etc.). According to its metallicity, SOD is divided into copper, zinc, zinc, manganese, SOD and Fe-SOD. SOD has the physiological significance of converting toxic superoxide free radicals into hydrogen peroxide, and it is the main substance for scavenging oxygen free radicals in organisms. 1. SOD has strong anti-inflammatory activity. For example, superoxide dismutase is a very effective experimental treatment for chronic inflammatory colitis. SOD treatment can reduce the production of reactive oxygen species and oxidative stress, thereby inhibiting the activation of endothelial cells, suggesting the regulation of factors that regulate adhesion molecule expression and leukocyte-endothelial cell interaction.
